Hot House 2024: Cultivating Emerging Artistic Talent

Cardiff MADE is a community interest company, founded in 2013, with a mission to nurture both emerging and established artists. Cardiff MADE facilitates opportunities for artists, including live performers, visual artists, designers, and makers, Located in the creative area of Roath, Cardiff, the location provides a flexible space that includes a gallery, shop, framing studio, and hosts events and workshops.

Their recent open call to artists will culminate with an exhibition to the public, here’s the details:

  • What: “Hot House” is an annual residency program for recent arts graduates. It serves as a bridge into professional practice, nurturing emerging talent.

  • When: The program begins in August, with weekly mentoring sessions throughout the month.

  • Where: Cardiff MADE, a vibrant gallery and creative hub in Wales.

  • How: Selected artists from degree courses across South Wales participate in this transformative experience.

  • Support: The curatorial team at MADE provides guidance, and external professional artists visit the open studio.

  • Artist Fee: Participants receive a bursary of £600.

  • Culmination: The program culminates in an exhibition of the artists’ work at Cardiff MADE, opening in early September.

Who Should Apply?

  • Recent graduates committed to pursuing their arts practice beyond college.

  • Graduates from visual arts courses (Fine Art, Performance, Illustration, Sculpture, Photography, and Textiles) at the University of South Wales, Cardiff MET, and Swansea MET.

  • The deadline for applications is 22.06.24
